Our developments are created to foster a true community spirit, and that starts from day one. We have an excellent reputation for community engagement and recognise the importance of the Government's localism agenda. By acknowledging and reflecting the views of local people, we can encourage greater integration with existing towns and villages that surround our sites.
Consultation with the local community is integral to the way we work, from the promotion of our sites through the planning application process and over the course of construction on site. Wherever new development is proposed, it is only natural for there to be concerns and objections. That is why we place such high importance on the need to always communicate clearly our plans and proposals and why we value, through the consultation we undertake, the input and contribution of local residents, community groups, local authority officers, elected representatives and all those involved in the planning and delivery process
Sites where we have recently run neighbourhood consultations include:
We recognise the importance that the Government places on Neighbourhood Planning and we have already built up a substantial amount of experience working closely with Parish Councils and interested parties on the identification of sites within their emerging Neighbourhood Plans.
For example, recently we worked with a Parish Council in relation to a green field site we were promoting for 52 dwellings adjoining the northern edge of the village of Wing. It was not a site that was initially being considered, but we successfully persuaded them to identify it for residential development within their Neighbourhood Plan. Through continued dialogue and engagement; we were subsequently able to obtain planning permission under delegated powers.
